Station 114, I don't have the radio you do. It looks a lot like my old GRE PSR-500. I don't know if you have the little original instruction book that came with your WS1040 but, the instructions for enabling Scan Lists are on page 28. Here's a link where you can download that owner's manual:
https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1420/2702/files/WS1040_Manual_05A14.pdf?14709532190415081729 I confirmed that those work on my PSR-500 so, I'm confident they will work on your WS1040. Basically, press the
PGM key, then, the
GLOB key. Then, use the down arrow key to scroll down the configuration list until you see, "
Scan Lists." When
Scan Lists is highlighted, press the
SEL key. You should then be able to scroll down through a long list of available scan lists. If a scan list has an asterisk (*) after it, it is enabled. No asterisk and it's not. You can easily enable a scan list by pressing the
SEL key while the scan list you want is highlighted. You can keep scrolling and highlighting until all the scan lists you want enabled have a * by them. Once you're satisfied with which scan lists you have enabled, push the
Save softkey (upper left
F1 Key). Then, press the
Scan button.
As KX0Z said, above, scan lists can be enabled and disabled from the keypad without going into the programming mode. That's probably what happened to you when you bumped your radio. For example, if you have the first scan list in your radio configured and you want to listen to that: while your radio is scanning, simply press the
1 key on the keyboard will enable that first scan list for scanning. Pressing
2 enables the second scan list, etc. Pressing any of the numbers for an enabled list will disable it. Here's the text for that from the owner's manual: "
To toggle a list, press the corresponding number on the keypad. For 11-20, press FUNC and then the second number (FUNC + 3 = 13)."
By the way, you can lock and unlock the keypad so this doesn't happen to you again. See the little key symbol over the light key? If you press the
FUNC key and, then, the light key, your keypad will be locked so no button presses will matter. To unlock the keypad just press
FUNC and the light key again.
I don't know the configuration of your radio. I configured my radio starting with scan lists at the very top. So, when you're in programming mode, if your scan lists aren't used until way down the list somewhere, you'll need to scroll down that way. I named all my scan lists so, they are intuitive and easy to scroll through. For example, my very first list is no longer called "Scan List 001" it's called "City Police." Anyway, good luck.
