There's an old airplane visiting...

One of my buddies called on the fone yesterday and asked where I'd been and then told me I should let others know... Sorry, my sudden absence was prompted by the presence of "Aluminum Overcast" on her trek across the United States... engine start for this morning's flights is 1015... flights this morning and tours this afternoon then she departs The Aviation Museum of Kentucky tomorrow morning (07 Oct 2010)... here are some pix... take-off then a monochrome climb out (couldn't resist, sorry), then a look at downtown Lexington over the #1 engine.... and a shot of Air Force 2 working the pattern looking past Overcast's rudder....

Thanks for the great photos of an old warbird - we just hosted some at Bradley Int'n Airport (where I am
an aircraft fueler) last week. Also, a nice shot of Air Force Two - which I received Secret Service clearance
to fuel when she was here last year bringing V.P. Biden to the area. It didn't happen though, the aircraft
had plenty of fuel for the return trip to Andrews so I missed out on the chance to go aboard. Thanks again.

Thanx Andy and Russell.... I'm the luckiest person on earth... one of my job requirements is to listen to scanners the whole shift.... and The Aviation Museum gives me these awesome opportunities to be a part of historic aircraft and share that with people.... and then there's my wife who actually lets me do this stuff....

She's on the ground at Asheville Regional (AVL), North Carolina.... "Aluminum Overcast" departed this morning but no one was allowed on the ramp because of a guverment official's plane parked nearby....
