• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

This is a big deal

I don't see it as a big deal, don't think the public really cares.

The only person, or people might be someone who is suing the Sheriff for any alleged wrong doing - they would try and use the fact they lost their accreditation over something they did wrong, to show it's a pattern of bad behavior or failure to adhere to normally accepted standards of performance by a law enforcement agency.

Agencies and departments would be better off never trying to be accredited.

It's really nothing more than a good old boys club, lets start an organization or committee that can hire and pay each other to check each others agencies out and say what a great job we are doing or provide a Chief or Sheriff or agency head some support in getting something he wants. Oh but Mayor, we need this or that in order to become accredited.
