We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. Has anyone used EF Johnson radios? We're looking at buying a set of EF Johnson 800 mhz 51SL/5100 ES radios and would like some end user feedback. Even if you haven't used this particular model, we'd like to have your thoughts on their products in general.

Thanks

Chimp

City of Marietta (GA), works off of the Cobb County P25 TRS, but they said NO to Motherola on purchasing their equipment and went with EFJ. Apparently they got a hell of a good deal and they should be coming on line very soon!

I agree. EF Johnson radios are cheap. That is why these departments buy them. They are not a good radio. The buttons break and they lose signal. Pieces of garbage in my opionion. These Motorola systems are designed for MOTOROLA equipment.

I agree.

I've used EF Johnson equipment, And I must say, I don't really like it, The batteries die quickly, The belt clips break easily, So I can the only thing I can say that I like about them is the range, But that's only good when you're running a lot of power and a good antenna.
