• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

The GMRS wide or narrow band is up to 36 replies, not sure what the confusion or pissing contest could be about.

Not curious enough to read the thread either.

Also, dontcha love it when someone posts to a thread that's been dormant for many years?

Perhaps admins should prevent any thread older than three years (or whatever) from being restarted.

Generally, we frown on "necroposting" unless new information has been added to the thread. Sometimes, I simply move the new post to a new thread and let the old thread remain dead.

But, we don't see all of the necroposts. If you have a problem with a thread being revived, you are free to click the Report Post icon (white triangle with red border at the right edge of the post header) and let a moderator address it.
