• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

I've been listening to the voice channels on the Tinker system today and heard some encrypted digital traffic and something where there was only carrier but no audio so I guess the system is in use now.

I let the scanner (Pro 197) do the auto detect on the mode but when I switch to straight FM, it sounds like MotoTrbo.

No, I don't have a trunking table for it. I just had the 3 voice channels programmed so I could directly listen to them.

I'm too far away to hear it unless there is a real good band opening.

It is a P25 system.
That's why it sounds similar to MOTOTRBO if you don't have your scanner set to decode P25 properly.
It probably has more voice channels than what are listed in the database.
You shoudn't need tables. The band plan is transmitted on the control channel.

Somebody should be running Unitrunker (or similar) on it every day.
Somebody should collect unidentified talkgroups and put them in the wiki.

Somebody around Enid and Altus should be searching the 380-420 band every day to see if similar systems come online at Vance AFB and Altus AFB.

Well actually I have a Pro 197 and it receives P25 traffic pretty well...unless it's encrypted!

Listened to my "wildcard" and it was pretty busy. Copied several talkgroups, though all encrypted but in one instance a radio was keyed and I could hear talking in the background.

TG's:
51021
51030
51031
51032
51036
51050
51070

Kind of interesting today. Heard radio shop testing on 51021 in the clear and a little encrypted on 51031, 51036 and 51030.

And I haven't copied any new VC freqs, either. Only the three that are listed.

I just realized I haven't heard any traffic on the three ACW MAINT freqs in awhile. Not sure where they went...

When searching voice channel freqs, I notice it will stop on one but I hear no audio at all. They may be using some system that scanners won't decrypt on certain talkgroups. When scanning my wildcard, though, it won't even stop on anything.

Maybe something similar to ProVoice.

Lots of testing going in this morning on 51020 and 51022, some encrypted and some clear.

51020 is being used by Fire and Crash for now. Don't know if it will be permanent. I'm hearing the Tinker Ground link on 51023 so if I was a guessing man, I would say that 51020 is Fire and Crash TAC 1 Dispatch, 51021 is TAC 2, 51022 is TAC 3 and 51023 is their TAC 4 link to TInker Ground.

Next to a scanner...
The Tinker talkgroups have been pretty active the last few days! I don't know what they are all used for yet, but here are the ones I have logged:

51000 - 12 hits - just radio techs
51005 - just affiliations
51007 - just affiliations
51010 - just affiliations
51020 - partially (mostly) encrypted. Radio techs active on this channel. FD Dispatch eventual use?
51021 - 108 hits FD? radio techs active on this channel
51022 - 67 hits. Radio testing. "Tinker FD Tac 3"
51023 - 170 hits. Tinker Tower/Ground to FD. Engine 2, Chief 1, Medic 98 Tower on 121.8
51024 - 27 hits - tone alerts. PA Test to Station 1
51025 - 29 hits - tone alerts. PA Test to Station 2
51026 - 21 hits - tone alerts
51027 - 4 hits
51028 - 29 hits - radio tests / tone alerts
51029 - 54 hits - radio tests
51030 - 114 hits - partial encryption. "Control". radio tests.
51031 - 92 hits - partial encryption. Alert tones. radio checks with "control" - sounds like conventional security guys. Called Gate 1.
51032 - 4 hits
51070 - just affiliations
51270 - 7 hits

SECURITY FORCE is a channel name
DEL CITY is a channel name
EOC is a channel name - "commonly used"
FD "A" is a channel name

Also my previous post is correct. I have forwarded my findings to RR so once they get posted we have a bigger list. 51024,5, and 6 are station 1, 2 and 3 PA respectively.

More frequencies are being used by the system in the last few days too (I'll submit them to the DB). Traffic has increased - is the system considered "live" now? I would guess that some users are on it live, but others are just linked to their old system.

The system still isn't showing any adjacent sites, but is showing "connected". I've logged 261 radio IDs.

I would have to say its live now. Sec police and Law Enforcement are using it full time as well as Fire. I haven't logged any new TG's since last Wednesday when it came on line. I still haven't figured out what happened to AWACS Mx. I have noticed when I search between 406 and 410 that it sometimes stop on one of the voice channel freqs but there is no audio. I wonder if they may be using some other type of modulation
