• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

It looks like WhistlerWendy is going to start putting out tips and tricks for those scanners that use SD cards (see her comment in the Whistler forum - thanks Wendy)

I am going to start a wiki article to capture these tips - but if you have any that she hasn't got yet, please feel free to add to it. And this is important - make sure you specify which scanner(s) the tip pertains to.

This way if there's a tip for the PRO-668 that doesn't seem to work with the Whistler scanners, for example, these tips can be isolated to their own section (and perhaps in the future, to their own article, if there's enough of them) to prevent confusion

Before someone asks, as Wendy adds more tips (not related to the SD card issues), please feel free to add them to the various FAQs we already have out there. We have several FAQs already set up, and here are some of them...

GRE/RS Object Oriented Scanners FAQ - The RadioReference Wiki

GRE/RS PC Object Oriented FAQ - The RadioReference Wiki

Uniden Home Patrol FAQ - The RadioReference Wiki

As always, if you find something is wrong, please take the time to fix it. It helps everyone when you do this...Mike
