All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

So I have a TK-2180 that I use for my volunteer department. A few months ago I tried to use a used KMC-41 mic. When I plugged the mic into my portable, it appeared to be very sensitive. I could flick the microphone and it would transmit. Whenever I switched zones the TX light would display, overall it just seemed very sensitive. At first I thought the microphone was just bad. I recently got a new KMC-41 microphone and the same thing appears to happen. I can simply set the microphone down and it will transmit, flick the mic with my finger it will transmit, press any button on my radio and the TX light displays. At this point I'm wondering if maybe I need to do something in the program settings or maybe there is something not right with the connection pins themselves. Any thoughts??

Could be in the programming that it is set on a vox setting or something. I could take a look at the programming if you want

The land of broken calculators.
I agree. That's a symptom have having the VOX turned on as the speaker mic will function just like a headset when vox is turned on, picking up on sounds or when you put the radio down on the table or something like that. It will make a thud and sometimes kerchunk rapidly.

You may have a button assigned to turn in on or off as well so you will want to remove that in addition to in the KPG software if you don't need it.
