To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Programming some p25 channels in a Kenwood Tk-5210 radio. Is there a way to set the proceed to talk tone or radio id on a P25 channel. I can do this on an analog channel without a problem. I have search the programming of this radio and it appears to be grey out. Any suggestions or ideas would be appropriated.

Thanks,
Richard

I can for sure do it on the 5220 series so I assume the 5210 can. Look under I believe Optional Features 2 and you are looking for the PTT Proceed tone. Should be a radio wide option that doesn't matter if its on Analog or Digital

I have both a 5220 and a 5210. The 5220 will do the ptt tone on all conventional channels but not p25. I can only get the 5210 to sound the ptt tone on MDC identified channels. Any ideas??

I don't recall trying the 5220 on Conventional P25. I'll have to try it and report back.
