• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I got got when I bought what was supposed to be an NX5300 K5 from Used Radios and he sent a TK5330 450-520 Mhz radio instead. The label on the back says NX5300 tho, is there anyway I could get this to back to an NX5300 so I can use NXDN too? Already tried to just write to it as an NX after a power off during programming and it refuses it.

Like I said in our emails, that radio is a p25 only radio. Need to get with Sunny Communications like mentioned above.

Already did and I'd rather keep the radio and make use of it for P25 since it's an entire radio for the price of the license key, just was curious about if it could have NXDN restored.

Got a pic? Sunny has been pretty reliable in the past.

(add) What's a TK-5330? The TK-5310 and TK-5320 look like the NX-300 and are from that age. The NX-5300 looks totally different.

Yeah. Blocked out serials just to make sure these pics aren't reused by scammers or anything. Serial number ends in 005. Back tags say NX5300, the radio is "flashed" for lack of a better term as a TK5330.

Not asking for advice with sunny, just for if it can be reverted to an NX so I can get a tad more use out of it. If not then NBD, I have plenty of NXDN radios already and I've been needing to get UHF P25

Just now caught your edit, TK-5x30 is a P25 and analog only version of the NX5x00.

The firmware for NX-5300 does not list the TK-5330, so it's a different firmware no? Maybe a refresh will get you to where you want to go.

NX-5300 and TK-5330 are completely different radios.
They are the same hardware, the just don't do NXDN and were sold under EFJ but they use KPG-D1N not Armada. There is a PDF on MYEFJ that give pricing for upgrading a TK5x30 to a VP5x30 and part of that upgrade is 1. Upgrade to Viking firmware and 2. Armada programming software. I would assume the firmware is the same between a TK5x30 and the NX-5300, but I'll check and confirm when I get the time.
