Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

There can be a number of things that can cause this. Wrong software, wrong market code, wrong cable...

Give us some details to work with:
-Full- model number of each radio, photo of the tag on the bottom would be ideal.
-Full- model number/manufacturer of the programming cable
-Full- model number of the software, including version number

And tell us about your computer. Some of this older software isn't going to work no newer machines.

Programming cable it the one he had used to program it when he had it.
Its connected to front of the radio in the mic port. Once I pull up the 49 I plug in to USB turn radio on it comes on makes the new hardware noise but doesn't connect.
Sees the device is there but if I remember it says no drivers?

I did it!
FINALLY FOUND THE DRIVERS TO MAKE IT OPPERATE!

OK, good deal.

If you haven't programmed radios before, remember rule #1: Read the radio and save the file. Always do that as your first step, that way if you accidentally booger something up, you can always dump the original file back in and have a place to start.

Ok one more question about this.
Its programed and all but is there a way to scan channels like my TM-281 mobile? Or is this a manual operation only radio? I got no instructions with it so I'm going into this blind and working off the cuff lol

I need to be more clear when I ask a question lol
So I'm up n running but the 880 just sits there. On my 281 ham mobile in scan mode you see it flipping channels as it scans but the 880 just reads - scan - on the readout.
Does this mean its scanning channels I have programmed in or?

I forget what term that software uses, but in one of the tabs there should be a setting that does something with display revert. It'll go into scan mode, but will show the channel you are sitting on.

Then again, if you are moving from the scanner world to this stuff, having it show "scan" might be useful.
