TK-790/TK-890 dual band mobile issue

I have a previously working radio that all of the sudden has started to do something strange. All of the sudden, on the 790 side, the display flashes the channel name, and a tone emits constantly. There has not been any programming done to the radio, and was working, then it wasn't, without any warning. There was some work done in the console that the faceplate is in, however all the wires are in place and were not damaged.

May be VCO unlocking.

Does it do it on all channels, or just specific ones out near the band edges?

Its doing it on all the channels on the 790 side of the radio.

Well, that likely rules out VCO unlock.
I'd check the connections between the head and the VHF deck.

Is the VHF deck 1 or deck 2? Sounds like no communication between the deck and the control head.

turns out, a connector backed out of the brain just slightly enough to cause the issue
