To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi Folks,

Unfortunaly when my radio is programmed, the audio adapter doesn't swith the audio from internal TK2180 speaker to the jack via this audio adapter.

I tried several audio adapter and various microphone with an acoustic tube earpiece.
The audio doesn't switch.

Si I suspect a problem of proper set up of my radio.

So, what did I missed?

Can you help?

Many thanks.

Two possibilities come to mind. First one is that the audio adapter is bad. Pin 1 on the 14 pin universal connector handles switching between the speaker on the radio and the speaker on the speaker mic.
1 SSW I Ext/Int speaker switch input
L : External speaker ON, H : Internal speaker ON, Input voltage : 0V~5.0V

It's possible that the 5 volts was shut off in the programming software. If you go into the "Extended Function" window, make sure the "Universal Connector Pin No 11" option is set to "always 5 v (high)"

Have you tried just a regular speaker-mic (with no adapter)?

As informed by the manual quote above, it should switch to external speaker if you apply ground to pin 1 on the accessory jack on the radio (closest to the screw). Does it? You should see +5V pull-up on that pin with nothing connected.

I can imagine that since it is at the edge of the connector, and therefore the edge of the flex circuit, it is more vulnerable to be damaged.
