HI
I have the Pequannock FD programed into my BC 785.. I just started getting hung up on that freq. It sounds like a tone, that repeats it self and then stops and the unit starts to scan. then 30 sec later it stopes on that again???? I am a beginner so any help!! It is so anoying I lock out that Freq.

Fire departments use a tone or tones that precede their dispatches, that may open a radio's squelch, activate pagers or rooftop sirens, open over-head doors, etc. This may be what you are hearing.

Try programing the PL tone for that frequency that should make it only stop when it needs to you should be able to find the tone in the R.R. database

The associated PL will not block the pages to the stations. It is a primary dispatch and paging frequency for his county. It is something that you will have to live with. I get LOUD tones on my county's P-25 system for the FD toneouts. Just have to get past to hear who/why the station is getting dispatched.
