Thank you for the information. A couple of follow up questions. What is a HAZCAT? Can you furnish additional information, or a picture of a Topeka Truck? Is this a full size rescue truck or a small pickup type with rescue tools? How many people are assigned to a truck? For that matter how many people are assigned to an Engine and Arerial. What type of unit is Rescue 11?
Thanks for your help.

What is a HAZCAT? This is the hazardous materials assessment team- part of the overall regional HAZMAT team. The last time I looked this was a suburban which runs as a 2 piece unit with the Light & Air truck on HAZMAT calls.

Can you furnish additional information, or a picture of a Topeka Truck? I tried to post a photo I have of Truck 10 cleaning up after an extrication earlier this week but the site kept kicking me out. The trucks are full sized "custom" cab fire trucks with large storage bodies and roll up doors. In most places they would consider them to be heavy rescue trucks. Let me know if you want me to email you the picture- or tell me what I am doing wrong on posting the file...

How many people are assigned to a truck? For that matter how many people are assigned to an Engine and Arerial. All the Topeka fire companies have 4 personnel assigned- with 3 as minimum manning (which they are at most of the time due to sick leave, vacations, training, and Kelly days).

What type of unit is Rescue 11? The old Rescue 11 was a Ford C-Cab engine that they had made into a flatbed, towing a trailer full of cribbing and collapse/cave in equipment. They are in the midst of switching to a 4 door truck-tractor pulling a custom built semi-trailer (federal grant money). I know the tractor had been delivered but haven't heard anything about the trailer. Truck 11 and Rescue 11 respond as a 2 piece unit to technical rescues (rope rescues, trench collapses, train wrecks, etc.)
