Today at around 10am,

I was monitoring the Old current Toronto Public Safety System on the south tower.

The below talkgroup was activated by Toronto Police Dispatch.

24752 60b A C13 JES 4 C13 - Joint Emergency Services 4 Interop

They were conducting radio checks with a wide range of downtown facilities , financial district and attractions.
Here is what I was able to catch

(Rogers Center, ACC, Riplys Aquarium, 10 Dundas, Atrium on the Bay, Trump tower, Union Station, Eaton Center, First Canadian Place, Scotia Plaza, Commerce Crt, TD Center, Royal Bank Plaza, Brookfield Place, CN tower, Sunlife Center, Toronto Community Housing Authority-CSU). There was more but cant remember who.

I believe , this is a weekly event....... But dont quote me on this.

Reminds me of back in the day when the old Metro Net frequency (151.2950) was active linking the City together in an emergency.

Last I heard, the Metro Net freq is TRBO or NXDN?

Metro Net is still alive and well and it is TRBO.

What you heard is called Pathcomm. It is a system (actually, the OnQue system) that links all the buildings connected to the PATH underground system. It's a talkgroup (well, a few...) that is common with all of the security operations centers, as well as Toronto Emergency Services. TPS Radio brings up a patch between JES-4 and the Pathcomm talkgroup.

As someone else said, MetroNet is still around but on TRBO. I had heard that they were looking at incorporating MetroNET into this system also, but that has since not happened, likely because they don't want to rely on a commercial system.

Is this patch or link new?
Was implemented for the Pan Am Games?

I did hear the TPS dispatcher welcome new users and at the end of the checks she made reference to switching the radios back to the main talkgroup.

I learn something new everyday.

Naw, it's been around for maybe 2 years now? Not a PanAm thing... PanAm is being used as an excuse for WAY too much these days!
