• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Howdy,

I recently purchased a used Hytera PD-782 DMR rig. Radio is in fine shape and seems to work correctly.

I also purchased a genuine programming cable from Hytera.

Upon plugging the cable into my computer, the appropriate drivers are not found (this is of course after putting the radio into programming mode). These are genuine FTDI chipped cables which should just "work".

I have tried every driver I can dig up, across multiple OS platforms, for the past four days. At this point I'm about to throw the radio away.

How in God's name do you program one of these things? I have programmed thousands of radios from every other commercial manufacturer, so I don't consider myself a slouch in the USB world, but this is eluding me entirely.

Thanks,
WM

Okay. If this message should be seen by folks with my same issue, I FOUND A FIX!!!!

After searching to the point of tearing my hair out, I stumbled upon this site

Hytera USB Driver | HAMDigitaal.nl

Of the two dozen drivers I attempted, these actually worked!! Follow the instructions carefully and do what it says, and the cable will be found.

Good luck!!

programming

glad you found a driver that works. Now that you have it installed, are you having any trouble programming the radio? I have tried to follow a tutorial on youtube, but when I write to radio it says "no program". Any advise? were you able to find a codeplug online? That is one of my problems, thanks, John

No problems on this end now that I have found the drivers. I did an initial read of the blank radio, saved that codeplug in case I botched a new one, then scratch built a new plug for it. I don't have access to local pre-built codeplugs nor do I really like using them because I use odd memory organization techniques lol.

Are you able to read thw radio? If so can you just write back the unchanged codeplug just read?

Hytera radios and drivers are very specific, including the order in which they are set up. Install the CP software first, but do not open it. Install the Hytera provided driver next. Connect the cable to the radio and plug it into the USB port. Open the software and turn the radio on. If you have problems, uninstall the driver and reboot the computer and try again. Make sure the CP software is the correct version for your firmware.

Much the same here on a PD702. I have a factory Hytera cable coming. BTW I have a link to the Hytera driver at the Hytera site.

I have a factory cable and the Hytera drivers for it. Still wouldn't work without the above linked drivers. From what I'm reading it is a 50/50 on whether the cable will be seen by your computer or not.
