Tram 1199

Anybody have any luck with this antenna? It has good reviews on amazon, and I recently bought it for my F-150 to try before having to direct wire through my firewall for a lip mount antenna. Anybody have good results? My friend bought it and states it works well. I will be using it for low, and VHF bands.

I tried the 1199. I thought its performance was poor at best and ended up returning it. I went with this:

The 1091 performances pretty well from VHF Low to 800mhz.

Keep in mind that while the marketing speak in the description says it'll cover down to 25MHz, reality is that a short antenna like either of those is going to be a very poor performer for low band VHF.

You can't cheat physics. Using an antenna that small and expecting good results on low frequencies is setting yourself up for disappointment.

I think the through the glass part is what made it so bad for me.

Well I'm using a wire antenna in my windshield now that isn't horrible. So I think the tram will work good too and if it isn't I will go with a comtelco all band or a Larson triband.
