• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Has anyone had any luck using the 2 current 3rd party console offerings with older CDM/MCS radios? it appears the official gateways are for XPR/APX only.

Unless you have a very specific need for this Russian based code, I would evaluate Telex and Omnitronics.

The others buy you nothing when you are doing control station interfaces.

What I would really like to do is just setup a MIP5000, since the gateways are readily available at a low cost, but it appears Motorola discontinued selling it from what I can see. I just want a remote interface for all of my radios so they can be stowed away in another location within the building.

My suggestion stands as this two products excel in a RoIP distributed architecture build.

If dollars are an issue maybe look for the IP-223 (last Generation) of the Telex interface adapter instead of the current IP-224.

If you are not changing channels, on the control stations, TRBOnet works with pretty much any radio, including CDM and MDS. We have several 1225LS radios on A200 gateways, and they work very well.

I have also used TRBOnet and IP-223's with CDM and XPR series Motorola radios. However, another but often more expensive option for the IP interface is the Zetron 6300 series. Like the Telex IP-223 they offer up to two interfaces (6301 has one licensed connection while the 6302 has two licensed connections). The Zetron 6300 series allows for remote programming on a network, but otherwise works just as the Telex IP-223 functions.

OP, you may be able to get these cheap at online auction sites, I purchased some mobile radios that were cast off from fire departments and the Telex IP-223 was thrown in just to get rid of it. Buyer beware as noted in the thread about the last generation IP-223's, the ones online might be very old variants.
