Trouble with BCD325P2

I bought the uniden BCD325P2 and it was already programmed but I’m not hearing anything. It will only pick up stuff sometimes. I also got the better antenna. Any ideas what could be wrong?

Who did the programming? A dealer where you purchased it, or somewhere else.

Also, what is your location? Need to be more specific than just 'California'. Providing the city, or at least the county, would help check to see what systems in your area are like, and whether the 325P2 is suitable for them.

San Diego county. Fire , police , emt . And whatever else u recommend . I’m a beginner . I have a channel on YouTube that reports on news in San Diego streets . Called Dadda Russia San Diego news . I’m trying my best but it seems like this radio is pushing me back .

Welcome to the RR forums. If you're listening to the system linked below you may be experiencing simulcast distortion, perhaps the most discussed topic on the tech support forums. There are a number of mitigation methods mentioned in the linked wiki but ultimately you'd be much better off with an SDS100 (or SDS200) to bring in simulcast trunked systems

I am not picking up the police station near my house? Is there a way to enter it manually and finding out the frequency?

Check your P25 threshold setting. Best at 7 or 8.

If San Diego Police, they operate on a trunked radio system so it isn't just one frequency (I linked the trunked system in post #2). Again, simulcast distortion is the likely issue at hand as there is a cluster of sites broadcasting the same traffic on the same frequencies at the same time.

This thing is driving me crazy . As the app I’m hearing wayyyyyy more . I dunno what to do because I’m not hearing much at all. It’s scanning and I think it passes up what I need to hear because it’s busy scanning something I don’t even need . Uhhh. Soooo frustrated .

Have you reached out to Bearcat Warehouse in Maryland? Paul is the "MOST" knowledgeable person there.
What part of CA do you live in? County and areas you are trying to listen to. Have you scanned WEATHER?

No I have no scanned weather . I live in San Diego . I’m trying to scan San Diego . I do media in San Diego . Like news coverage . Happy Easter to you as well . I’m sorry I’m very overwhelmed and it’s very frustrating not being able to do This .

Yea . Very frustrating . Someone even called me stupid in here in Russian language . Very rude .

Very frustrating that this radio I paid so much money for it working worse than the app on the internet . Very upset .
