I've been spending some time in Troy and have been monitoring the Troy Fire 460.4750 frequency. When a mobile unit is on the air what is the digital sound underneath the voice? I searched the forums and the emissions designators for the frequency but no clues there. I'm sure one of you more familiar with the equipment they use can help.

Probably MDC-1200 or Kenwood Fleet Sync

Funny, I've never checked that one. It might be GE*Star. I'll check it out and post here when I find out.

You'll have to listen. It's definitely not a normal ANI burst. It runs along with the voice and there is a trialing tail. Like if you listened to a P25 or DMR repeater just before it unkeys. Unfortunately I haven't been in a position to record it or run it through DSD+.

Definitely pre MDC 1200 and just sounds like line noise coming out of the comparator from the aux/satellite receivers.

Update: definitely noise coming from a receiver heard a few transmissions when there was nothing after a unit unkeyed and a few when it did.
