What frequencies and talkgroups are being used for coverage of this incident?
That pretty much all the traffic. I did not catch what channel the one in clear police transmission was on and i am betting that was made in error. Also appears they starting to release units as two medical unit just clear and are returning station. The Butler County Fire 6 group has been active on ICORRS
I've started a public playlist here:

Let me know if anything needs to be added (on the fire/mutual aid side) from either system
I was wondering what type of comms the local PD had with SS. There are reports that the bystanders notified local PD of the gunmen How quickly could the local PD notify the front line protection team of a shooter? I am assuming they would not have direct communication with them.
All law enforcement traffic are encrypted in Butler have been for years.Hello from a journalist and radio novice,
I'm just wondering if any of you HEARD or know anyone who heard ANY communications in the minutes before the shooting involving law enforcement being alerted to the sighting of the shooter/working to contact/confirm permission to engage?
Thanks so much!

thank you so much! that is very helpful! It may be possible to get the county radio system audio. You won't know until you send the RTKL request to Butler County and see whether they grant it or not.
From PA's RTKL website: "Pursuant to § 708(b)(18) of the RTKL, certain 911 records are specifically exempt under the RTKL. However, 911 recordings or transcripts may still be released at the discretion of the agency. Generally, requests for 911 records should be directed to a county or the county’s emergency services."
The above covers both 911 call recordings (public calling in to report incident) and 911 radio recordings (dispatch, unit to unit, other emergency response comms on recorded radio system channels).
There is a separate law in PA, Act 22 of 2017, that covers audio and video recordings held by law enforcement. However, since radio comms are captured by the 911 centers that are generally NOT run by law enforcement agencies in PA, Act 22 would not apply.
From PA's RTKL website: "In Pennsylvania, requests seeking “any audio recording or video recording made by a law enforcement agency" are governed by Act 22 of 2017, a separate law from the Right-to-Know Law with its own separate process and procedure. While the Office of Open Records does not have jurisdiction over requests made under Act 22, information about Act 22 and a form that can be used to make Act 22 requests can be found here."
All Butler county Law enforcement are dispatch via the Butler County Emergency Services expect for Pennsylvania State Police they have there own dispatch system. Bulter city police who were a mutual aid resources no longer self dispatch as they use. I seen a lot place get stuff wrong.thank you so much! that is very helpful!
One other question - would it be the county or the city 911 center?(Or a state police 911 center?) I can send requests to all of them but just trying to get a better understanding of the division of labor.
This NYP article quotes a Butler CIty dispatcher: "A Butler City police dispatcher told The Post that the Pennsylvania State Police were charged with securing the AGR grounds."

I would think PA State Police are exempt from any requests under Act 22 since their dispatching is operated at the individual barracks level and, therefore, a PSP controlled function.thank you so much! that is very helpful!

They did not. The SS agents had to be paired up with local law enforcement to have any cross agency communication at all! I saw this on an NBC interview with a SS agent.I was wondering what type of comms the local PD had with SS.
