• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Hi, I have a bc250d currently without the digital card installed. I used to be able to scan and monitor and trunk track radio transmissions for the local PD, Suffolk County in NY. I noticed at one point that I could no longer track the transmissions, in fact my scanner wouldnt even pick them up if I was in scanning mode. It does receive them when manualy moving through the frequencies. I know that Suffolk is part of the APCO p25. Is that the reason that this change ooccured or should I still be getting something even if its digital noise and why is the scanner not picking up anything anymore when scanning not even the control channels? Im wondering if I may have inadvertantly changed a setting. I did do a hard reset and renetered the frequenices from ARC250. If anyone could shed some light on this I would greatly appreciate it.

settings are:
MODE: NFM
STEP: 12.5
ATTENUATOR: OFF
TRUNK : ON
DELAY: NONE
STATUS BIT: OFF
I CALL : OFF
END CODE: IGNORE
ACTIVITY ID: TRIED BOTH OFF AND PLAN 1

ps I am currently in the process of getting the p25 card.

Thanks!!

I have a 785D, base model of the 250, and I don't know if this has anything to do with your problem or not, but when programming a Motorola Type 2 800 System, the Step Size is a non issue. IE: you don't program anything for it. Just the frequencies and talk groups. If you have it programmed properly, when the unit reaches that bank, in the scan function, and there is no activity on system, it should stop on the control channel for a brief second and then resume scanning. If it doesn't do that, it means you're definitely not picking up the system. If you don't have the digital card installed, I would imagine you should still be hearing something, like maybe static or a hissing sound if the system is working properly.
You can call Uniden Customer service at 1-800-297-1023. Their hours of operation are 9 AM to 7 PM, central time. I have called them a few times with problems and questions and they are very cordial and helpful. Give it a shot and let us know how you make out.
