Hello,

I'm new to this forum. For a while, I've been trying to find out how I can hook my scanner up to my computer to provide a feed for ATCS, a program that monitors trains. My old BC72XLT just broke, and I actually ended up getting a BC75XLT. I quickly learned certain channels I wanted would not be accepted by the scanner. Here are the six I need, 896.8875, 935.8875, 896.9375, 935.9375, 897.9875, 936.9875. These channels would provide data from train signals so I can have an idea of where trains are. What I've heard is I need a scanner with a trunking capability to use these channels. I've been looking at a BC346XTC, and am wondering if it would do the job for these specific channels?

If it can, I'm aware that for ATCS I need to install a discriminator output in the scanner. I have researched how to do this for a BC72XLT and found info, however, I have found nothing on the BC346XTC. Help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Daniel

Discriminator out.....

Dear CN8815, I would look for an older BC9000xlt or even better the UBC9000xlt.. These can be had for around 200 bucks and have a ton of channels, (25mhz-1300mhz).. And it is VERY easy to soldier a disc output into the board on these... Go to mods.dk - Modifications for radioamateur for more info...

You need a better source of information. Any old analog non-trunking scanner that covers 800/900 MHz will work. Even my 20+ year old Pro-43s would get the job done.

Of course, since you already need a PC to make use of the signals, why not just pick up a $20 DVB-T dongle instead...
