• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

Arriving somewhere, but not here . . .
Good Morning All,

I am not sure where to ask this, since there are about 18 different scanner sections, but I have this general question regarding scanners which are P25 and Trunking capable - which is the best out there, mobile or portable?

I am needing to upgrade what I currently use, and am starting to look at options.

Thanks in advance . . .

Some good places to do research:

If you have specific questions, please ask. "Search" is a good tool. This would probably be better in the General forum, unless you live in a specific area of California and want to know what scanner would work for your area (a common question).

Filling in your location with something other than lat/lon coords might help.
