If you own or have owned both of these scanners, which one did you prefer in terms of reception and software bugs. I'm on my second TRX-1 and still finding the experience buggy. I guess my question would be in terms of the stability of the TRX-2.

To the best of my knowledge they are both the same scanner internally. One just has a different chassis than the other (same with the Uniden SDS 100 and SDS 200).

I have two TRX-1s and have never had any unexpected issues with either. Not sure what your "buggy" issues are, but I will mention if you are listening to a simulcast system you will have issues as the scanner is not designed for that. Also they do not do true "trunking" on DMR or NXDN.

The trx-2 is BASICALLY a mobile version for the TRX-1 portable.

The trx-2 has some operating differences such as the the knob can either be squelch or volume just by pressing it or programming it via ezscan.

There are no battery settings in ezscan for the trx-2

Trx-2 also has a removable control head.
The trx 2 can run off 12v with the included power cord.

I have given up on my TRX-2. Last Christmas I got it, and within four months, it stopped turning on. By chance I hooked up the USB cord, and it powered on. I thought it was fixed, until I unplugged the USB, and found out it would not turn on now without it. I researched the problem with Whistler to be told to send money, then they would figure out what was wrong with it.

Recently the firmware updates came out, and I brought it in the house to do that. I figured while it was in the house, I would update the programming as well. I put my old WS-1065 in the vehicle so I still could listen. It was like night and day. It had the same program in it but was constantly picking stuff up in my 40 minute commute. With the TRX-2 it would only lock on something every once in a while. I updated to have a better scanner, but the new one is worst. Oh well.
