hey everyone,

just got my new BCT15X scanner in and trying to set up Indiana State Police Motorola type 2 re banded channel. i am not using any software, as i only need to input few channels, so all manual here. Heres what ive done in order and where i get an error, also note with the 15x it doesnt give me an option to select type 1/2 or hybrid, just "MOT"

program system>MOT>(named ISP)

ISP> EDIT SYS OPTION:
-------set number tag:1
-------id scan/search: id scan
ISP> EDIT SITE: (created site named ISP dispatch)
-------set quick key:1
-------set startup key:1
-------edit band plan>custom>band plan 1>"851.0250"(lower) "854.0000"(upper)
---------------------------------------->band plan 2>"851.0125"(lower) "868.9875"(upper)
-------edit frequencies-853.8625(primary channel for the town of MADISON INDIANA, JEFFERSON COUNTY)
ISP> EDIT GROUP:
-------set quick key: 1
-------edit channel>ISP dispatch>edit TGID>***i try to enter 4112 (dec mode was selected under "set ID format) and get "bad TGID" am i suppose to add the "." before entering "4112"? if i do that it becomes displayed as "i4112" and is accepted.

then i go to scan, and it displays "ISP DISPATCH---ID SCAN" however i let this thing run for 2 hours and i havnt herd even static.. also at the top of the dispay is showed a blinking "signal strengh?" icon? ive tried turing the squelch all the way down/ up and no difference.
also under "ID SCAN" it shows a "NFM" for 1 second, then a frequency "853.8750" is displayed for 1 second, and it just keeps cycling. what am i doing wrong here??

ISP and many others are using digital voice (APCO-25 Common Air Interface) on that system which your scanner can not decode.

Look at the system page in the "Mode" column. You will only hear the agencies using "A" (analog) such as DNR and INDOT.

This was the problem. I just realized this. So Ill keep this scanner and set it up with agencies still using the analog type, and I just purchased a 996XT so I can listen to anything else... Man I feel dumb, now I have two scanners when I only really needed one..oh well haha!
