Kenwood: Ts440s AT tuner

Quick question, I purchased my first HF rig, a TS440s with the antenna tuner. Is the antenna tuner suppose to be automatic once you tune a band once? I noticed I can tune 40 meters, tunes in about 5 secs, then after I leave 40 and come back, the tune is lost and I must tune it again. Is this accurate?

Not sure now. Retunning isn't that big-a-deal, so just punch the button.

Will it wear out the tuner after tuning so often?

If an antenna is somewhere in the ball park, I very much doubt if you could wear out that tuner. At least, I couldn't with the two I've had...
