• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I am trying to set up my MD 9600 as a DMR Scanner. My SDS 200 works perfect, but the TYT does not receive the audio. The TYT shows that it is receiving the audio and shows the UID talk group etc. Is this a RAS problem? Is there anyway to turn the RAS off in the TYT radio so it can act like the SDS 200 DMR Scanner?

I know this, they are all simplex, and I have confirmed multiple times everything is correct. I'm guessing it maybe a RAS issue?

RAS is not in the TYT radios, as a Motorola thing to limit radios accessing the system.

@hill Yes, I have all of this correct. I'm wondering if the business radios I am trying to listen to have their RAS enabled? No known way to disable RAS in the TYT, or enable it to ignore RAS, right?

Well, I just figured it out. If I put a different TX frequency in than RX it thinks it is a repeater and now the audio works.

Again this is a simplex frequency, anyway to avoid this, or do I need to put in a different TX frequency every time?

RAS should only effect transmiting on the system and not receive.

No. It absolutely affects receive, on pretty much anything other than scanners, and some radios that ignore the extra data.

RAS is a Trunking and a controller making sure a radio belongs on the system never heard of RAS Simplex

RAS can be used on standard repeaters too, not just trunked systems. No, it cannot be used on simplex.

That doesn't really make sense, honestly. No idea why it would work in that manner.

I know, from what I have read everywhere that has been their problem as well, something to do with the radio not knowing it is in simplex. My guess is I need to update some type of firmware / software to get it working correctly, or possibly just program 2 channels for each frequency, one channel with slot 1 and one channel with slot 2

It works perfect with any other TYT radio on simplex.
