If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

New rig, possibly a version 4 if there is such a thing. ( Adjustable back light.)

I downloaded the MD-9600 specific radio configuration aka codeplug from the arrl-ohio site, and also the
Csv contacts. Entered my ID and a select few other options from what I've seen others do.
Uploaded each to radio no problems everything seemed to transfer ok, however the display shows "unprogram.." on the 2nd display line for every channel.

Need an MD-9600 guru to tell me where I went wrong :(

Thanks in advance

I think it’s because the second line of the zone is unprogrammed. See if that’s true in the CPS.

Thanks for the quick reply... So does the Top display line represent Channel Member A and the Middle Line Channel Member B? or does it depend on the mode of operation?

If I look at the Zone selection in CPS, I only see items populated in Channel Member A for all channels..

But I could be missing something else entirely...

what is the 2nd Line typically used for?

Thanks

Ok yeah that's basically it. The Channel Member B column has no entries by default.
So I put a single Analog simplex 2m freq entry in that column , for a given zone, and when that zone is selected as the active zone on the 9600 , then that B (middle) line shows the "Simplex 146.5200".
But, I thought I read somewhere that A has to be VHF only and B UHF only (or vice versa perhaps), is this accurate? Does that mean I need to go though and split the channels out for each zone or they might not work or fry the radio?
