UASD connection

Recently had a fatal event with my computer and had to do a system restore. I reloaded UASD and am now unable to connect. I keep getting the communication error. I checked device manager to make sure that I was hooked up to the right com port and have been thru every baud rate.

I am using the Radio Shack USB to serial adapter since I do not have any serial ports and am trying to connect to my 396.

Keep in mind please that until 2 days ago I was able to use UASD with no trouble and have for the last 2 years.

This is almost always a driver issue with the USB adapter you are using. (When it isn't that, it is that you have either not matched the baud rate between the scanner and computer or you haven't set the computer to the port the USB cable became when you plugged it in.) Make sure you have the absolute latest driver available for your adapter.
