OK....I got a problem... I have a BCD396T and a newer computer running Vista 64 bit... I have a USB to Serial converter made by Manhattan MANHATTAN Computer Products : USB to Serial Converter I am running the Uniden USAD software... every time I try to connect to the scanner it starts to read my scanner and about ½ way thru it stops and give me the blue screen of death and forces me to shut down my computer... and YES, i ave gone to the manhattan web side and got the Vista 64 bit drivers, and still no luck... this same adapter works on my older XP machine...so something to do with Vista 64bit and the USB converter...any suggestions??? also this same converter does work with other applications on the same computer...seems to me that the UASD software has a bug with Vista 64 bit???
has anybody had this same problem??

I used V64 and UASD for about 6 months with no issues (also using PL2303-based USB cable, but prior to the latest version release from Prolific).

UASD just opens the serial port. It can't tell that it is a "spoofed" port created by the USB driver. BSODs are going to be caused by something happening with the driver. We have an older version of the V64 drivers on our web site for that same chip set you might want to try.

I tried a different adapter from monoproce only $7 and it works great now....
HDMI Cable, Home Theater Accessories, HDMI Products, Cables, Adapters, Video/Audio Switch, Networking, USB, Firewire, Printer Toner, and more! it's got a proflic driver
v3.0.1.0 it's a PL2303 Vista driver made for... and does the 64bit just fine....the Only thing I noticed, is that when I connect to the UASD software and try to connect to the scanner....it never works on the first click...so I select "connect to scanner" a second time...and works like a champ... the other adapter made by Manhattan never did work even after i got the vista 64 bit drivers...but all is working now with the monoprice adapter...
