I have a UBC3300XLT that I bought secondhand, that was absolutely flawless cosmetically. It came with the digital card, but I removed it since I do not currently monitor any digital systems and heard that they eat up battery life.
I mostly monitor non-trunked fire service frequencies in the Norfolk County, MA area, mostly UHF. I programmed in the Frequencies PL's, and Alpha Tags from the keypad with no issues.
For some reason, the volume level drops or "clips" to next to nothing while receiving, especially when receiving alert tones or strong carrier audio. The only way to get full volume back is to tweak the volume knob back and forth a bit, but this is hit or miss. Sometimes turning it on and off doesn't help either.
Anyone else have this issue? Is there a setting that I have programmed wrong, or is this a hardware issue.... and if so, what's the likely culprit and how would I go about making repairs? Thanks for your help.
