Though I haven't listen to UCLA in many years, the recent protests on campus prompted me to dig out an old radio with their 800Mhz Type II system programmed - didn't hear any activity this afternoon, any idea if it still operational?

I have been wondering the same thing. I have never heard any activity on the talkgroups in the past few days when I tried to tune in.

Does anyone have the TGs for LARICS and UCPD? The database is not updated, so scanning for unknown TGs currently with no hits yet.

When it happens, don't even bother :)

I had the feeling that was going to happen, most UCPD’s are already encrypted. But especially once they make the LARICS transition with how all other departments are moving. (Well except Berkeley’s UCPD, I was told they did not have plans to encrypt. But that was a while ago now since I last talked with them, who knows…plans change a lot.)

Anyway back on topic, any idea if the database is still up to date on the Type II system? I was near campus but heard nothing yesterday while trying to monitor. Perhaps my programming was messed up.

Nope. I love how confidently folks give out wrong information. UCLA has not made the transition to RICS. UCLA is still on Type II... try and guess which voice is mine ;)
Oh, and enjoy listening while you still can :) ØØØ :)

I'm sure you are correct. I was going off information I had on their programming for their APX radios.

The UCLA PD is still on the same old 800 Mhz trucked system they've been on for two decades. The move to LA-RICS is pending but not complete yet. The UCLA system doesn't have a large footprint so unless you are in West Los Angeles you won't be able to pick them up. The LAPD and CHP will be on simplex on the ground so same deal.

Did they go live with it in 1994 like the other UC campuses (no doubt upgraded equipment since then…)?
