I am monitoring 500 mhz police system that doesnt come in that well. the tower location is about 15 miles away from me and i was wondering what sort of antenna would be tuned just for 500 mhz or UHF. i have a RS Pro-94 and a magnet mount antenna on the car with a BNC connector.

Are you trying to get it in the car? If it's just a 1/4 wave mag mount, you could just cut it down to around 500. If it's for home, then there's a few things you can get.

Heck, even some 450 mhz ham antennas might work well up that high. Lots of possibilities here. My Diamond dual band had no trouble on 494 mhz when I was working in PG county Maryland; I suspect it would work pretty well up on 506 mhz.

Bill, how do you have your antenna coax coming into your vehicle? Check it to make sure its not getting pinched.
