There is a whole discussion on another thread about these radios.

They are not legal for importation to the US.

Puxing Legal for Import

There are some inexpensive chinese radios sold under the brand Puxing that ARE
FCC certified, and therefore should be perfectly legal for import.

They are frequently advertised as such on ebay, and I have verified the type acceptance
on the FCC website.

I have a VHF model Puxing, and it's neat little radio considering what I paid for it ($80 with shipping). Audio output is quite loud. One odd thing is the on my model, DTMF tones pass from the speaker to the mic, not directly somehow. So if your audio output is set low, DTMF tones won't get through.

Yeah I wouldnt mind getting more information on those myself. Like what the BRAND name is and how much power they put out. Might be a neat cheap backup radio for when the SABER battery dies.

I recently bought myself a Puxing PX-777+ UHF version on ebay for about $90 with shipping and I think it is a great radio for the price. I bought mine from http://stores.ebay.com/Valley-Enterprises in the US, but it does have an FCC id so it would be legal to import.

N_Jay, I know what thread you're talking about, but I can't find it either. There is a big long thread about those Chinese radios somewhere.

These radios work great. I found a site that has a great selection and very helpful staff to answer your questions. www.euroradiosales.com They will sell to USA but they really sell mostly to Asia, Australia and Europe. Some of the radios are look-a-likes for Motorolas. I have used the Lintons and Weirewei's and with 4 watts of power from that small handheld I have been able to hit my repeater from quite a few miles away. "Illegal or Legal?" I'm not here to discuss that. Speeding is illegal and I think I sped to work today and we could all add another illegal thing or two that we have done before. I am just answering your question I am not looking for a flame war or anything like that!

Any problems getting these radios shipped to Canada?..I would hate to order one and have it refused it customs.

I dont know about customs in Canada but I had alot of stuff go thru US customs from Hong Kong and such and it was never touched (usually they attach a sticker of they searched your package) so I would guess that you should be ok.
