• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I would like to set my orange "top button" on my APX6000 to the Scan function. However the Scan option is shown as orange in my APX CPS. I am not sure why I cannot assign the Scan function to the "top button" on the radio.

Do you have it assigned as a soft button in the menu? I learned you have to pick one or the other, hard assigned button/concentric or menu item.

That was the issue. I also had it in my menu. I removed it from the menu and it turned black allowing me to use it in the "top button". Thanks!

I have my APX6000 setup with three zones. An FPP zone and two other zones. I would like to be able to setup a scan list using the radio itself to select from programmed channels. However, I cannot figure out how to do this. I looked at YouTube videos that cover the APX 4000 but my radio seems to behave differently. I have my man down button assigned to "Scan" but when I press and hold on the man down button I just hear a short beep and I don't get a list of frequencies to add. Does anyone have any suggestion on how to go about setting up a scan list? If not on the radio itself, then perhaps using CPS (I have v25 for the APX). Thank you.

In your codeplug tree, select “Scan List”. Add the channels you want in the list. Also, make sure your conventional and Trunking personalities reflect the scan list you’ve put them in.
There’s a help menu in the CPS that has a wealth of information you can use. It will explain how to do this and many other functions you may want to do.
Each button has the ability for two assignments. “Short press” and “Long Press”
