Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

The specs explain it all. Look at the frequency range, it's 800 MHz so you can't enter a 400 anything MHz frequency.

That's not an XPR7550, that's an XPR7580. As stated above, you can't program a UHF frequency into an 800mhz radio. You got/bought the wrong radio.

it doesn't explain it all. yes i'm aware i can't enter anything in the 400 mhz range. but why can't i enter anything in the 850+ mhz range?

i can't enter ANYTHING. it's stuck at ONE frequency

Did you try a frequency it can take? It is locked out of most frequencies below 854mhz except the 8Call/8Tac. try a freq above 854 mhz it should go.
Also i would use the 16.0 version of the software, much more user friendly

Pretty sure it’s the other way around. The Canadian EID lets you program frequencies above 866MHz.
Moto doesn’t want LE using Trbo radios for Npspac. They want them to buy APX’s at quadruple the price, so the freq’s are blocked at the lower end, where Npspac now resides. But since there is no Npspac in Canada, an EID was created to allow Trbo radios in Canada to be programmable in the 851-853 range. Npspac hasn’t been 866-869 since rebanding years ago.

Doesn't appear to be the case. I checked several models and CPS does allow entry in the range of what is specified in the device information. Funny thing, it takes freqs with a non standard channel step (see screen shot, this was a 5380). Doesn't seem to be the cause of what the OP is having a problem with. I do not have a clue. Maybe they got the CPS from a shady foreigner?
