It would help if you shared system/tower/TG. Also, give us some info on how you programmed it, what software or by hand, what tags are activated, did you program one CC or all of the CC in the database?

I too am in very close proximity to the NYS Thruway and have been listening since they were on VHF. ALL my other radios pick them up fine. I had a rather long discussion on here about it. A lot of really fine and helpful folks had great suggestions and tried to help. I was very appreciative.

At the end of the day, the fact is that the SDS 100 generally speaking is not great on VHF or UHF. you can try IFX and the various filters (while standing on your left foot on an odd numbered day) but here it sounds like they are miles away! Usually I just get one of my other radios!

Wish you the best with it. Next time I update my program I can look and see what filter I last tried. None of them made much of a difference. Maybe in my case the radio was overloaded by another local signal?

Nys police have conventional channels and talk groups on trunked systems. For starters, you should state which troop you’re trying. You should state the database version you sentinel is using. The date in lower left corner of sentinel. If you never updated that, then your sentinel will not have up to date data.

wow thanks everybody sounds like a scanner issue also i have a terrible time with static on vhf uhf frequencies fdny fdny ems nypd all uhf tried multiple flters etc never any luck no matter what i try lol

Zip up your Sentinel export and post it as an attachment on this thread so someone can have a look at your programming.

You're not going to be able to pick up all troops from one location. Post your Sentinel export so we can suggest how to clean up your programming. Keep in mind the more you scan at once (the more work the scanner has to do) the more traffic you'll miss

Focus on the closest troop to you (Troop F?).

Over 40 miles away across mountains, don't think a SDS100 is going to make it from Rockland County to Columbia/Duchess counties even on VHF.

Here is a Favorite List in .hpe format for Rockland County, Police/Fire/EMS. Unzip the file and use Sentinel to import it into a New Favorite List. It is set to Favorite List 1 and has Quick Keys setup.

Let me know if it works.
