• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

For those readers of this forum who may be interested, Unication has notified their dealers of a Tariff Surcharge dated 09-12-2025. I received this notice directly from a very reputable communications dealer that I do business with.

Here is a direct copy-and-paste of the notice from Unication:

9/12/2025

Important Dealer Announcement: Tariff Surcharge

NEW TARIFF INFORMATION
The new tariffs have increased our supply costs beyond what Unication can reasonably
absorb alone:
· Effective August 1, 2025, the U.S. government imposed a 20% tariff on imports
from Taiwan.
· Changes in exchange rates have caused an approximate 11% currency loss
(USD/TWD dropped from 32.20 to 29.90).
· Raw material prices have also increased by roughly 8% – 11%.
· Overall, these factors have increased product costs by approximately 34% – 64%.

REASON FOR TARIFF SURCHARGE
To address these challenges fairly and transparently, Unication USA will implement a
flat 15% tariff surcharge on all orders. This will show up as a separate line item in the
shopping cart and on your invoice.

We chose to approach it this way instead of raising the base prices of every product for
the following reasons:
1. Efficiency – It avoids the resource-intensive task of updating individual product
pricing across all systems, online stores, etc.
2. Flexibility – Future tariff or trade policy changes can be quickly managed by
adjusting or removing the tariff surcharge as needed.
3. Transparency – Keeping the tariff surcharge visible helps preserve the integrity of
our product pricing and ensures customers clearly see that these increases are
the direct result of government-imposed tariffs, not Unication.

Thanks for this.

I was in the market for a G5 UHF-D and charging base (even sent Phil an email but hasn't responded yet). Wonder if I could lock-in the current price. If not, I may forgo the purchase. The added 15% is about $115 price increase or $125 with the charging base.

Sent you a PM. I’ve been in and out of doctor’s appointments the last two weeks and got behind on emails.

All your favorite toys are going to have increased costs. I cant think of any radio / pager / scanner manufacturers that currently manufacture in the US.

Thanks to Phil’s quick response, I ordered the G5 and base charger and locked in the current price before the increase.

Even if they did, it would probably be impossible to build a radio with all parts sourced in the US.
