Checked all the forums and am hoping I picked the most appropriate one to post this in. If not, please advise.
I purchased a Uniden BC23A External Speaker in February to use in my Jeep to amplify my CB speaker and is used in off roading. Last Saturday while on a run it was working fine up until mid-day when it just stopped working. For the power source, I tapped into the power going into my CB just after the in-line fuse going to the CB. The CB is still working. Although it looked fine, I then changed the BC23A in-line fuse just before the speaker and it still doesn't work. I tried taking out the fuse and held the wires together that make contact with the ends of the fuse and it still didn't work. I'm down to what I believe are the only two things left.
One is to re-do the electrical connections for the power where I tapped in, thinking it may have lost contact somehow. I did use butt connectors, the proper crimping tool and a heat gun to seal the connections which happen to be behind the glove box. I would be quite surprised if it is the connection, but I will keep all possibilities open.
The second thing is that maybe the speaker itself is defective.
Now, before I cut into the connections or take the speaker out of the Jeep, I wanted to find out if there is anything else I can try before doing so. Your help/suggestions are most appreciated.
