I would check out Advanced Specialties in Lodi, NJ. They have a high capacity battery for thirty bucks. There are other battery packs out there as well that will do a much better job than Uniden's original; I have the AS battery pack in my 250, and though it takes 16 hours to charge, I get three days' commuting out of the thing, and about ten hours straught operating.

Is there anywhere that you can buy a battery pack similar to the PRO-96 pack that will accept AA's for the 250? I've been looking all over for one that is small enough to fit - my pack is dead too and I'd prefer to use my 2300MAh NIMH's with the one hour charger. There's got to be something out there....

I think I will have to check out Advanced specialties! Oh and AZScanner, I heard a rumor that there is an adapter that hooks up to the BC250 but stays outside of it that uses AAs.

ATTN> UNIDEN; I hope the manufacturers read these post, and realize that battery packs SUCK!!!!!!!

Seeing as how the BC246T can take standard AA cells, I think they have realized that. Too bad they didn't figure that out before they made the 250D... oh well.

I'm still on the hunt for a battery holder that will fit in that scanner. I'll let everyone know if I find one.

Batteries in Stock: AES

I bought a 250D on the mark-down table at Amateur Electronic Supply in Orlando, and bought an additonal new battery pack with it as well. Their web site shows them in stock.

There are a number of aftermarket battery packs available for the Bearcat BC250D. Try an eBay search, or try Batteries America.

It is the main reason I will not buy a 296D.
