Uniden BC370CRS...help

I'm new to the world of scanners...I got this scanner for my Dad for christmas. He was into them years ago (20+). Not knowing anything about scanners I just ordered one from Ebay. My dad is not good with tech. and electronics in general so I'm gonna have to learn how to set up/use it. I'm not even sure if this scanner will work now or will I need to get one with trunk tracking...whatever that is.
Any help for this ''scanner dummy" would be great!
