On this scanner. I notice its the control channel scanning capanility. According to the advertisment in the scanner world catalog, that it works on Motorola. But my question will it work all modes of trunking ?

Not compatible with AEGIS, ASTRO or ESAS systems. The BCD396T can monitor public safety organizations who currently use conventional, trunked at 3,600 and 9,600 baud analog control channel and digital voice and mixed mode APCO Project 25 systems.

No. LTR and EDACS do not send channel information the same way as Motorola. Motorola assigns a channel to every possible frequency in the 800 MHz band. The control channel sends the channel number and the scanner knows from that what absolute frequency to go to.

LTR and EDACS use LCN's that vary from system to system. What is Channel 3 on one system can (and usually will) be a very different frequency on a different system.

To clarify this explanation, there is no such thing as a "mixed mode APCO Project 25" system. There is also no such thing as a analog control channel, all control channels are digital.

Project 25 systems use 9600 bps (4800 baud) digital streams and the BCD396T (indeed all 9600 capable digital scanners) will follow these systems in CCh mode. Project 25 systems are all digital (no analog).

Motorola Smartnet, Smartzone, etc. systems (which may be mixed mode (analog/digital voice)), use 3600 bps (3600 baud) digital stream control channels that can be followed by any CCh capable scanner.
