Hello Everyone! Im quite new to scanners but I use a Uniden BC80XLT to scan my county's law enforcement for fun. Its the 800 mhz frequencies and everything was just fine a couple days ago but now before every transmission there is a loud buzzing sound almost like a game show.

I've been told that one frequency is the control frequency and that the system i'm monitoring may have rearranged frequencies and and I need to reprogram. I have no idea how to do that except enter the frequencies in.

Any advice would be great.

trunking

yes, that would be the noise.
and the 80 does not do trunking at all.
so you can lock out that frequency, especially if it is 24/7.
some systems change the data channel on a 24 hour cycle.
my county does this and a friend who has an older scanner, and myself years ago, did just that.
you would have to lock out the new one and unlock the old one.
if you get the money up for a trunking scanner, you can also see what group is talking and lockout the ones you don't want to hear. i got tired of hearing the mosquito guys talk and the school buses.
