So with this scanner I have found that Lithium rechargeable's last the longest and NO Do not charge them in the Scanner,Also I have noticed the scanner is a little warm
to the touch after alot of traffic when the batteries are fully charged...Any harm in that?

Youi're not using 14500 Li-ion cells are you? They're triple the voltage of standard AAs.

As long as the batteries are the correct voltage and you're not charging them in the scanner, you're fine.

No just regular 1.5 volt AA Lithium rechargeable batteries. I think they have a little more constant voltage than Alkalines do If I remember right and even more than Eneloops..They do last alot longer than Eneloops also.At least in my scanner...Thanks!

Which ones are you using? I converted my 436 to use 14500s (rewired battery teminals to be parallel instead of series) and get about 13 hours of runtime.

From a quick check of them... Looks like they use a buck converter internally...
From what I read they last just as long as a regular NiMh batt...
The article I read says there was really no advantage...

What kind of runtime do you get from them?
It depends on how much traffic has been going on and Volume and that but I have run over 7 hours a few times. With regular NiMh no matter what brand I use I get maybe 6 at best and usually 5 or less. I have all of my settings on conserve mode..Its just one thing I dislike about the scanner you can't charge and monitor at the same time..But otherwise its pretty solid .

When I had my 436 I would get almost 8hr of runtime using eneloop pro's...
Again, like you say it depends on activity, volume etc...

I was curious about that. With the 14500 conversion and an internal GPS installed, I still get about 13 hours of runtime with volume 8 and display on open squelch.

OK. I was just clarifying in case there was any confusion. Not everyone knows the difference.

The ones I'm using are EBLs rated 800mAh, but I think they may be rated a bit conservatively, given the runtime I'm getting.
