Hi!

Will the Uniden BCT15X work for Burlington County New Jersey? It supports Motorola Type II SmartZone but I'm not sure if the system voice is compatible. I just need it to receive, not transmit. Thanks!

No. You will need a digital unit.

Others will chime in with their Uniden recommendations on which unit to buy.

Any scanner that does Phase I, such as, the WS 1040/1065, Uniden 396XT/996XT (unfortuately, those are discontinued.) Uniden 325P2/996P2. You don't need to go for the x36HP's. I'm sure you'll hear otherwise.

Burlington county appears to be transitioning to a P25 Phase II system. Look at the list at the bottom of this page:

So your options are limited to the 325P2, 996P2, 436HP, or 536HP.

You may wish to ask a moderator to move this question to the NJ state forum for a better answer as to whether or not they are joining the Phase II system,or not.
Click on the red and white triangle next to the permalink in the upper right corner of your post and ask the mods to move it there.

Although a BCT15X is capable of handling a Motorola Type II SmartZone System, Unfortunately the BCT15X wont work with a APCO-25 System Voice.

Out of the two Burlington County, NJ systems:

Your best bet is a Uniden BCD996P2 (Base Unit) or a Uniden BCD325P2 (Handheld Unit).Both scanners are capable of handling both systems and I recommend both scanners.

Before other new users read this, Scanners do not transmit, they are receive only. This is meant to clarify for new users/posters.
