That is a pretty limited scanner. If you let us know where you're at and what you might be interested in, we would have a better idea of the usefulness of it.

I belive the scanner itself should be easy to program, did the maunel come with it?
If not, going by memory as I belive its indentical to the bc145
Select the channel you want to program
press Program.
enter frequency using number keys(i.e. 153.830).
Press Enter.
If you want to confirm the frequency, press maunel, select channel, then press review button.

Where in Nova Scotia are you? Might be able to help.

Because that scanner is not a trunk-tracker nor does it have 800hz, you will be SOL for the province-wide system that RCMP (digital) and EMS are on. Maybe you can get some local stuff though, and some small fire departments. Look here and click on your county to see what might be available.

The above reply is correct that you won't get the provincal trunk system. You will be able to monitor
the local V.F.D.s and municipal police. I think an antenna with a motorola plug on it will work with the
bc147. The person to ask would be Bill at Nu-Com Communications, he sells and repairs scanners, his
shop is in New Glasgow. He may even have an antenna for it.
