Hi,

I am having a problem. I would be listening to the scanner and for no reason it would just restart whether it is in the middle of someone talking or not and I wanna know why. Any help is welcome.

Best,

Via a wall wart? It might be going bad or putting out too much or not enough voltage. Are there batteries in the unit? In what condition (voltage) are they? Is the power plug loose? Does wiggling it affect the power?

Yes, a wall wart. It is plugged into an extension cord. Yes there is batteries in the unit. I do not know what condition the batteries are in but sense I but the unit only recently, I would assume that they would be ok. Wiggling the power plug does affect the power, but I have never had the problem before.

Have you try to move the scanner to another outlet in another room? Also have you try to take the batteries out and than plug in the AC cord without batteries in the unit?

I have 2 separate UPS Battery Backups 1 was for the tv and the other for the scanners and I kept getting errors on the UPS Battery Backups and had maintenance come over look at certain outlets and couldn't find nothing 4 weeks later we called the power company and found out it was the breaker outside was fried and problem solved you may want to check the outlets for errors and the breaker box.

Ahhh... That wasn't mentioned before. Could be a bad connection on the board, then. Are all the contacts free from corrosion? Have you tried other batteries?

I did check the batteries and they seemed ok. I am not sure on the connection as this problem only started recently. Yea all of the contacts are free of corrosion. I have not yet tried other batteries.

Makes sense. There could have been many causes. Glad you found the one it was.
