I am thinking about purchasing the uniden home patrol for my house. Is it as easy as taking it out of the box and its all set or is it complicated like the last uniden i had with trunking

Thanks
Mark

so easy

1 - Download sentinel to your computer
2 - Update sentinel data base
3 - Write the update to HP1
4 - Put in zip code
5 - Listen
Takes 5 minutes.

Id like to add

Id like to add 6 and 7

6. Select services types (ex law dispatch)
7.Select the range in which to listen.(ex 10 miles)
hit listen!Poof!
Get a nice outdoor antenna and you'll be set I recommend the comet GP-15,it blows away a discone.
Its a cool scanner,if you like loud though, get an amplified speaker.
Whats nice is you can discover other things you wouldnt normally listen to,like before I had this
I didnt listen to Railroads,now I do!

Yup, it's pretty easy to use, can't get much easier! The things to watch are your Range and ATTN. Not enough range and you may not hear what you want. Turn on ATTN and you may not hear anything so be carefull not to hit that one!
And for more info try this site: HomePatrol there is a forum there under Community too for any questions you may have.
